County of Ventura
In 2010, the County’s General Services Agency developed an Energy Action Plan (EAP) and updates the agency GHG inventory annually. In 2012, the County of Ventura’s Board of Supervisor’s adopted the county’s Climate Protection Plan for Government Operations, setting a greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction target of 15 percent below the 2005 baseline emissions inventory by the year 2020. The Climate Protection Plan lays out a roadmap and strategies to meet this goal by setting out six major action areas and fifteen climate protection commitments that will provide direction for the next decade and beyond. The County participates in the Cool Planet Program and has reported its GHG inventory using The Climate Registry. The County’s Vanguard Building is LEED™ certified Silver level and the Juvenile Justice Center LEED™ certification is in process.
