Town of Colma

Beacon Participant Profile

“City Council unanimously adopted a Adopted Climate Action Plan on May 8, 2013.  The CAP contains programs that, when implemented, will meet Colma’s ambitious goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the community and Town operations by 15% below its 2005 emissions by 2020.

Colma’s unqiue mix of many businesses and fewer residents means sustainability programs will focus on comprehensive energy efficiency, free energy audits, water conservation programs and new green building standards for Colma businesses.  Residents will also receive free energy audits, water conservation kits and other information to increase water reduction and recycling.  Staff has a special focus on providing easy to implement programs for residents and businesses that can reduce costs.”- Town of Colma, Climate Action Plan 2013-2014

Colma Helps Auto Dealerships Reduce Energy Usage

The Town of Colma has one of Northern California’s most complete collections of auto dealerships, and the dealerships are the largest business sector in Colma. For this reason, the town developed programs for dealerships to reduce their energy usage as an effective strategy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
