Oakley’s Community Citizenship Drive
You, Me, We = Oakley!, one of California’s first two welcoming initiatives, organized a citizenship drive where over 50 legal permanent residents completed their naturalization application (N-400) and are on their way to becoming U.S. citizens. In addition to the study materials, the Liberty Adult Education Team and the Opportunity Junction were on hand to register the applicants for ESL and civics classes. The applicants also registered to participate in a Citizenship Supporter Program – an opportunity for a volunteer to work one-on-one with the applicants as they go through the citizenship process, study for their civics test and prepare for their citizenship interview.
