Menus

General

Hot lunch? Cold lunch? Creating a menu that appeals to kids is important to drawing kids to your summer meal program. Summer is a great time to engage kids in a positive culinary experience and help shape healthy habits. Try these:

  • Engage kids in taste tests
  • Bring in the summer BBQ
  • Partner with local farmers to bring in fresh produce
  • Solicit kid input into your school-year menu

Here are some sample menus to get you started. Remember! If you are a school district serving summer meals through NSLP/Seamless Summer Feeding Option (SSFO), your meals must meet the new meal patterns. Summer meal providers operating through the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) can find meal guidance here.
