The City of McFarland is a small, rural community located in the San Joaquin Valley that grapples with drought, extreme heat, and pollution. The city has engaged with a variety of community groups and residents to gather input on strategies to address climate change and would like to increase greenspace and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by providing alternate transportation. Primarily an agricultural city, the community seeks to diversity its economic opportunities that will help its community grow in a more equitable and resilient way.

BOOST Activities:
- Support the City of McFarland in identifying funding opportunities and provide grant writing support with a specific focus on transportation infrastructure, active transportation projects/programs and transportation electrification
- Provide trainings, technical assistance and grant support to assist in developing its Environmental Justice Element, Safety Elements, Housing Element Update and/or Local Hazard Mitigation Plan Integration
- Support implementation of activities and projects identified in the McFarland Transformational Study
- Support planning, housing and economic development activities associated with the city’s annexation efforts
- Provide training opportunities and consultation to build knowledge and capacity for project management, gran implementation and grant reporting
