Michael has over three decades of local government experience and currently serves as the Assistant City Manager for California’s newest City, the City of Jurupa Valley.

Prior to that, he served for 8 years as City Manager for the City of South Gate where he played an integral part in making their East Los Angeles Community College campus, METRO rail line stations, Azalea retail development, homeless transitional housing, the Urban Orchard Park project and the regions Frank Gehry designed performing arts center a reality. The majority of his professional career has been with the City of Burbank where he served for over 23 years. Actively involved in the communities he has served, Mr. Flad has been appointed to nearly two dozen committees and boards, including the Workforce Investment Board, the School District Partnership Advisory Committee, Traffic and Transportation Committee and various YMCA, and Boys and Girls Club advisory committees and is a past president of his local Rotary International Club.  At the state level, he was recently appointed to the State of California’s Strategic Growth Council and the Committee to Review the Operations and Performance of the Commission on Judicial Performance.  Michael Flad is a graduate of UCLA, with a degree in Political Science. He also holds a master’s degree in public administration from California State University Northridge.
