U.S. EPA Climate Ready Water Utilities Initiative
EPA’s Climate Ready Water Utilities (CRWU) initiative assists water and wastewater utilities in implementing climate change adaptation and mitigation strategies, with the goal of a more resilient water sector.
Visit the website to access tools and resources to help water and wastewater utilities assess climate change impacts and develop adaptation measures including:
- The Climate Resilience Evaluation and Awareness Tool (CREAT), an interactive tool designed to assess potential climate change impacts on water and wastewater utilities.
- The CRWU Toolbox, a searchable online database of climate-related resources for utilities at all stages of the planning and decision making process.
- Adaptation Strategies Guide, an interactive guide that assists drinking water and wastewater utilities in gaining a better understanding of what climate-related impacts they may face in their region, and adaptation strategies to prepare their system for those impacts.
The EPA also offers the Tabletop Exercise Tool for Water Systems: Emergency Preparedness, Response, & Climate Resiliency (TTX Tool), which helps users plan, customize, and conduct water sector-specific tabletop exercises on five climate change scenarios.
