Lodi received a federal grant enabling the city to replace conventional trash cans in city parks with solar-powered self-compacting trash cans. The new cans save the city money in labor and fuel costs. They also reduce the number of trips needed to collect garbage from city parks from five times per week for conventional cans to once per week for the solar-powered cans.
