The Institute for Local Government invites you to a hands-on training designed to help local agencies in Imperial County create more sustainable, inclusive, and collaborative outreach & engagement efforts. This session will provide practical tools, strategies, and resources to build trust, engage your community authentically, and foster strong, effective partnerships with community-based organizations. By learning how to better engage with community and other local partners, agencies can ensure that their initiatives — whether focused on housing, sustainability, capital improvements, recreation, public safety, or more — are informed by community needs and guided by meaningful dialogue.
Topics include:
- New strategies to reach and involve residents who are often left out of engagement efforts.
- Tools and meeting formats to get the public input you need.
- Tips on designing engaging, fun workshops that encourage open dialogue.
- Reframing messaging to focus on community values and the benefits of participation.
- Building lasting, meaningful relationships with community organizations and increase trust within your community.
- This training is open to all staff and elected officials from local agencies who are involved in public engagement and outreach. Join us in strengthening the foundation for community-centered public service.
